- Descenders and ascenders
This section includes all the equipment for descending and ascending on ropes, such as the self-locking descender, which allows controlled descent on a rope thanks to its speed regulation and automatic locking system, which guarantee safety in the event of loss of control; as well as ascending equipment such as the blocking handle, which together with the ascent bracket, provide a safe anchorage for ascending on a rope.
Descenders are mechanical safety devices that, attached to a rope, allow the operator to reach an inaccessible working point by abseiling from above. Descenders are also used in rescue manoeuvres to reach an injured person suspended in the void.
Blocking handles are mechanical devices functional to rope progression that allow one to ascend to the access point after a rappel.
